Patriot Empowerment, Employment and Reentry Support 
A Behavioral Health Project of Center Point, Inc. 

 

Center Point is currently developing a national pilot program which will offer an array of supportive services designed to assist Veterans and National Guard members to re-enter civilian life with employment-ready skills. The VETS-PEERS program is a vocational, employment skills and business development training project that provides pre-vocational behavioral health services, psychological counseling, interpersonal adjustment support, and a range of employment-related work functioning, vocational skills, job preparation and job placement services.

 

VETS-PEERS provide the following:

 

v Treatment services for male and female veterans and National Guard members returning from deployment in war theaters who suffer from psychosocial issues, such as post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and/or disorders associated with abuse of alcohol and other substances, and who need transitional treatment services;

v Specialized psychosocial services for single, female veterans (and those with children) who, as a result of deployment or related stressors (i.e. MST), have engaged in the abuse of alcohol and other substances;

v An array of comprehensive behavioral health services aimed at male and female veterans and National Guards members who are eligible for participation in Job Corps training programs;

v Integration of veterans returning from deployment by providing employment skills development; vocational preparation (interest, skills, and aptitude assessments; resume preparation; interviewing skills; etc.); job seeking skills; job development and advancement; coordination between behavioral health treatment and vocational services and outcomes; and on-the-job counseling and support;

v Identification of a cadre of veterans to provide peer support for others in recovery through training in peer counseling, recovery coaching and related fields.

  • The goals of Texas Center Point's Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) project for Persian Gulf War veterans and their family members incorporates comprehensive, case managed vocational services that include; job readiness training and mentoring; job skills development; job-finding skills; job placement; and post employment supportive services to improve job retention (on-the-job counseling, case management, and referrals to community partners to meet additional service needs).  The Texas Center Point VETS project provides seven core services for Persian Gulf War veterans residing in Travis and Williamson counties.

    vObjective Intake and Needs Assessment to target the efficient and effective use of resources

    vFollow Up Services to Improve Retention and Stability

     

    Direct employment related services are provided in individual, workshop and classroom settings.  Employment services are provided in a vocational center easily accessible by public transportation.

    San Francisco Bay Area Homeless Veterans

     

    In partnership with the Veterans Health Administration, Center Point provides residential and outpatient behavioral health treatment programs that address the therapeutic, rehabilitative, and recovery services required by homeless veterans or those who are at imminent risk of becoming homeless.  Center Point’s Homeless Veterans Services include:  outreach and engagement; structured therapeutic group activities; social and independent living skills training; vocational counseling and employment preparation; clinical case management; mental health counseling and medication management; substance abuse and relapse prevention; adaptive coping skills; and comprehensive discharge planning. 

    The array of therapeutic services prepares veterans for reintegration into the community with full employment and stable housing.
