Women and Children's Program
In 1990, Center Point initiated an innovative, gender-responsive, trauma informed program to provide a comprehensive array of services for pregnant women and women with children facing issues of homelessness, unemployment, trauma, abuse, domestic violence, criminal behavior and addiction. Center Point’s women and children’s programs currently provide services to families in California and Oklahoma.
Program graduates have achieved remarkable success: approximately 70% of the women remained employed and reunited with their families following completion of the program; over 90% remained abstinent and free of criminal or child welfare involvement; over half had regained custody of their minor children; and more than 85% were employed and had secured stable and affordable housing.
Center Point’s Women and Children’s programs serve over 120 mothers, infants and children each year in California and Oklahoma. At the California program, pregnant women and women with children 6 years of age and younger reside together in family-style units for 3 to 6 months in the residential phase of the program and, after completion, may remain in specialized transitional housing for up to 24 months while receiving ongoing supportive services.
